Corporate Headshots

In August of this year, I was contacted by Ahern to work with them on their company’s headshots. This is the first time a corporation has requested to work with me! My first instinct was what can I do to guarantee I get this work. How can I make myself a valuable asset to this company?

So I started to think of all the stories I have heard from friends and acquaintances about their past experiences getting a headshot. Most of them have never liked the final image. The process is always the same. Stand here, smile, a few snaps are taken and it is over. Only one pose, no options to choose from, and no approval of the final image.

Here is what I offered. 1. Three poses are photographed and sent for the employee to choose their final image. 2. Shoot tethered to my laptop. Still doing different poses but the employee gets to choose the final image right away. I also offered to do a reshoot at no additional cost if someone was not happy with their final image. The client chose to have everyone photographed tethered. Spoiler alert I got the job!

This job required me to go to all 5 Ahern Wisconsin locations. Menominee, Fond du Lac, Madison, Milwaukee, and Appleton. There were also two shoots for field techs in Milwaukee and Fond du Lac. For the office locations, we used the office or shop environment as the backdrop for the shoot. For the two other shoots, I did bring a backdrop as the location was not related to Ahern.

All of the locations were so welcoming and helpful! My favorite part about this process was meeting all of the new people! Absolutely everyone was so fun to work with.

The schedule was broken down to two people every 10 minutes. This left me with plenty of time to work with each employee. For each shoot I started with the employee positioned straight on and then two more poses. This gave me something to show the employees to see what they liked or didn’t like. If they were not happy with the first round I shot again to give them more options. Through this process, I like to talk to the employees to make them comfortable. Making sure they know how good they are doing. The best part is everyone was so happy with the process. Something they normally dreaded but they were actually having fun with. This was my favorite feedback! ”This is the first headshot I have not hated in the past 5 years. She did a great job, hope we keep using her!”
