As a business owner, you know the power of planning and forecasting. You plan out what product you will purchase for the next season. You plan out your financial goals. Many small businesses go wrong because they don’t plan out their marketing. So many free marketing tools are available to businesses, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. Not utilizing these to their full potential is what I see too often.
Where businesses stand out is when they combine gorgeous photography with these free tools. When working with Danielle of @mayberryfarmswi she understands the value of photographing what is happening now for when she needs it for next year. Farming strawberries in Wisconsin is a once-a-year opportunity to photograph the process. Danielle wanted to show the behind-the-scenes of being a farmer and polished photos of their final products.

During our initial consultation, we determined that multiple shoots would be needed to capture the content Mayberry Farms needed. We came up with three shoot dates and three different types of shoots. The first is planting season, the next strawberry picking season, and then a styled shoot in the strawberry field. Mayberry Farms produces strawberries, honey, and handmade soap, to name just a few of their products.
The first shoot was planting season. Little did I know the plants are shipped to them with bare roots. They are then soaked before a team of volunteers takes their spot on the machine to plant the strawberries. The plants are hand-fed through a machine that pushes the plant into the ground. Getting all of this content was so cool to be a part of. The best part is it helps to show Mayberry Farms followers what is involved in the process.
A few months later I was back to get picking season. This is such a magical time at the farm. Danielle asked some friends to come out and model for the photos. Mom, Dad, and their two kids had so much fun picking and posing for the camera. We also got content with Danielle and her family in the field.
The final shoot was the styled product shoot. Danielle gathered her favorite strawberry plates, serving pieces, cloth, and a table. We placed the low table in one of the strawberry fields with the Rock River in the background. During the shoot, I showed Danielle the back of the camera to let her see what we were capturing. She gasped and said, “It looks like it is from a magazine!”.
